This is simple - approach a drawbridge, signal with an air horn, and circle under power until they open it. NEVER approach a bridge unless you can sail under it. I’ve sailed under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge maybe ... 40 times? THAT’S a bridge big enough to take nearly every mast.

That’s just silly - plan ahead. Dock in a marina that gives you free access to the ocean, the bay - wherever you want to go. One bad swell, and that mast snaps.

Actually that process is pretty common along the ICW, especially in Florida from what I understand. Most bridges have to have a certain clearance but some older bridges do not, and some sailboats are just that big.
